Once again, there will be hands-on demonstrations, educational sessions, and opportunities to meet other professionals in the field of digital dentistry.
The IDS is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious dental events. Knowing the technology of the future is a real opportunity for both dentists and the dental industry as a whole. As happens every two years, this 2023 will take place in March, from the 14th to the 18th, specifically in Cologne, Germany, and on its 100th anniversary, SOi Digital will be present.
For those of us who work for the development of digital dentistry, it is no mystery that the IDS is known for its pioneering and advanced focus on dental health, highlighting innovations from the creation of dental prostheses to the digital planning and treatment that we experience daily in consultations and laboratories.

This year the IDS 2023 will have a wide variety of surprises from technology, as the same organizing team demonstrated in a preview at the last Dental Meeting organized in New York City. “We will see more developments in specialized scanners: you can choose whether to scan several sections of a jaw,” said Markus Heibach, CEO of VDDI (Verband der Deutschen Dental-Industrie), who remembered how the fair was in its beginnings, being a social instance that brought together industry professionals. For Heibach, that is in the past and this year’s focus is “100% for digital dentistry.” This way, with SOi Digital, we will witness the new digital flows and the development of AI specifically created for this area of medicine.

Markus Oster, manager of fairs at Koelnmesse, a German company dedicated to organizing more than 70 international fairs and 2,000 events, also referred to this massive meeting after two years of restrictions due to Covid, stating that this time the event should have a “nearly normal” transition in terms of public health precautions. On the magnitude of those attending the IDS, he could affirm that “almost all the relevant key players have confirmed their participation,” there will be over 1,500 exhibitors and 12 pavilions from countries with more than 400 companies.
For those who wish to have information about workshops and conferences, they can download the fair’s app, available on both Android and Apple Store, which is completely free for those who have purchased their ticket. The ticket values fluctuate between €15 and €24.
In addition, the app can be a fundamental tool for attendees, not only for event information but also for facilitating the opportunity to contact potential customers. Its main features are:
